Mrs. Martha Jean Lawhorn

January 21, 1939 - December 5, 2020

Mrs. Martha Jean Lawhorn, age 81, of Temple, GA, (Paulding County) passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. Mrs. Lawhorn was born in Atlanta, Ga., on January 21, 1939, to parents, the late Mr. Willie E. Gaines and the late Mrs. Virginia Cleva Cannon. For 57 years, Mrs. Lawhorn was married to the love of her life, Mr. Tommy Dale Lawhorn, Sr. until his passing in 2014. Mrs. Lawhorn was a homemaker and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to flowers and adult coloring books. She never could put down a good book and even once her eyesight began to fail she would listen to audio books. If she was not reading, you could find her enjoying her afternoon soap operas. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Mrs. Lawhorn is survived by her daughters Sandra (Kevin) Kennington, Sherrie Greer and Donna (Dean) Snow; son, Tommy Dale “Tome” (John) Nail; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: great granddaughter, Kylee Snow and her brother, Mr. Bill Gaines. In keeping with her wishes Mrs. Lawhorn has been cremated and a private family memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home.
